Uses & suitable surfaces

Typical uses: Temporary surface protection during fabrication, installation, transport, storage, decorating, refurbishment and general site work, including:

- Aluminium door and window protection
- uPVC window and frame protection
- Powder-coated aluminium profile protection
- Coated panel protection, including PVDF coated panels
- Workshop handling, transport and storage protection
- Temporary protection before fitting, delivery or handover

Best suited to: Textured, frosted and matte finishes, including matte baked paint and powder coat, PVDF coated panels, aluminium doors and windows and uPVC windows.

Test first on: This is a high tack tape. Test on a small hidden area before use on smooth gloss finishes, freshly painted, weathered, soft or delicate surfaces, or anything high value. Adhesion and removal vary with surface condition, coating, temperature, sunlight exposure and how long the tape is applied.

Not suitable for: Carpets or floors, long-term or permanent application, or unstable, flaking, dusty, damp, greasy or poorly bonded surfaces.

How to apply

1. Make sure the surface is clean, dry and free from dust, grease, wax, polish or loose material.
2. Test a small hidden area before full application.
3. Apply the tape smoothly by hand, avoiding trapped air where possible.
4. Press down firmly along the full length for good contact.
5. Check regularly if used in sunlight, heat, moisture or changing site conditions.
6. Remove as soon as protection is no longer needed.

Removal: Peel back slowly at a low angle. Removal is easiest when the tape has not been left on longer than needed, particularly in direct sunlight or heat.

Certification & product guidance

Flashback Protect™ is a temporary, high tack surface protection tape. It is not intended for permanent application and should be removed once protection is no longer needed.

The adhesive is designed for UV and weather resistance, but no outdoor exposure period is specified, so outdoor use should be short-term and checked regularly. Sunlight and heat can make removal more difficult over time.

Because of its high tack, always test on a small hidden area first, especially on smooth gloss finishes, freshly painted, weathered, coated, soft or high-value surfaces. Do not use where adhesive residue, surface marking or coating damage would be unacceptable without testing first.

Store rolls in their packaging in a dark, dry place at room temperature and use within 12 months.

Flashback Tape accepts no liability for surface damage, residue or removal damage resulting from use on unsuitable surfaces, extended application, incorrect removal or use outside the intended application.

Frequently asked questions

Is this tape or film?
Both names are used. It is a self-adhesive PE protective film supplied in tape-width rolls.

Is it low tack or high tack?
High tack. It is designed to grip textured, frosted and matte finishes such as powder coat and PVDF coated panels, where lighter films can lift. On smooth gloss or delicate finishes, test first.

Which width should I choose?
Choose a width that covers the face you need to protect. Narrower widths suit thin trims, beads and edges, while 38mm and 50mm suit typical frame faces and profiles.

Can it be used outdoors?
It can be used for short-term outdoor protection. Sunlight, heat, rain and exposure time all affect adhesion and removal, so check it regularly and remove it once protection is no longer needed.

Will it remove cleanly?
It is designed to remove cleanly when used correctly, but removal depends on the surface, how long it has been applied, temperature and UV exposure. Always test first.

Can I use it on painted surfaces?
It is designed for matte baked paint and powder coated finishes. Do not use on fresh, weak, flaking or poorly bonded paint, and test first on gloss finishes.

How should I store it?
Keep rolls in a cool, dark, dry place and use within 12 months.

Is it suitable for carpets or floors?
No. It is designed for hard surfaces such as frames, profiles, trims and panels, not as carpet or floor protection film.

Product Description

Flashback Protect™ White Surface Protection Tape is a heavy-duty, high tack self-adhesive PE film for the temporary protection of finished surfaces during fabrication, installation, transport, storage and site work.

Made from 150 micron polyethylene with an acrylic adhesive, it forms a tough temporary layer over aluminium profiles, uPVC frames and coated panels, and grips well on textured and matte finishes where lighter films can lift. It helps guard against dust, dirt, handling marks and light scratches until the job is complete, and the white finish makes it easy to see where protection has been applied.

Supplied on 30 metre rolls in widths from 20mm to 50mm, as single rolls or multi-roll packs for trade use.
