Product Description

Flashback® 1mm EPDM Sponge Rubber Tape is the thinnest grade in our EPDM range: a self-adhesive, closed-cell EPDM foam tape for thin sealing, precision gasketing, light cushioning and anti-rattle protection.

At just 1mm thick it adds almost no bulk, making it useful for narrow gaps, fine gasketing, light contact protection and tight-fitting parts where a thicker foam would hold components apart. The closed-cell structure helps seal against water, air and dust, and EPDM's ozone and weathering resistance is rated excellent on our data sheet.

Supplied on 10m rolls in widths from 10mm to 100mm, with wider widths up to 930mm available to order. The single-sided acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesive allows quick application to clean, dry, smooth surfaces, and the finished tape is rated for use from -20°C to +80°C.

Is 1mm the Right Thickness?

Choose 1mm when you need a seal or cushion that adds minimal thickness: fine gasketing, narrow gaps, light contact protection, anti-rattle strips, cabinet and enclosure seals, or padding delicate equipment.

Choose a thicker grade when you are filling a visible gap or sealing draughts around doors, windows, sheds or garages. At 1mm there is very little material to compress, so a thicker EPDM tape will seal an uneven or wider gap far more effectively. If 1mm is close but not quite enough, 1.5mm and 2mm are the next steps up, or compare all thicknesses.

Important: This is an EPDM sponge sealing and cushioning tape. It is not a roofing seam tape, flashing tape or waterproof membrane tape.

Typical Uses: Door and window sealing, weatherstripping, gasketing, gap filling, access panels, enclosures, machinery cushioning, anti-rattle protection, sound dampening and vibration reduction.

Suitable Surfaces: Metal, painted metal, plastic, UPVC, glass, wood, painted surfaces, panels and frames. For best adhesion, surfaces should be clean, dry and smooth. Always test first where suitability is uncertain.

How to apply
  1. Ensure the surface is clean, dry and free from dust, grease and loose material.
  2. Measure and cut the tape to the required length using scissors or a sharp knife.
  3. Remove the release liner and carefully position the tape before pressing down.
  4. Apply firm, even pressure along the full length.
  5. Allow the adhesive time to bond before placing the tape under compression or stress.

Always test first to confirm suitability for your surface and application. Adhesion varies with surface condition, temperature and environment. Take particular care on dusty, damp, rough, porous, delicate, freshly painted, coated or high-value surfaces.

Frequently asked questions

Is 1mm thick enough for my gap?

1mm suits fine gaps, precision gasketing and light contact protection. For draught gaps around doors, windows, sheds or garages, a thicker EPDM tape will seal more reliably, because there is very little material at 1mm to compress into an uneven gap.

What is EPDM foam tape used for?

Is EPDM foam tape suitable for outdoor use?

EPDM's ozone and weathering resistance is rated excellent on our data sheet, and the tape is rated for use from -20°C to +80°C, making it suitable for many outdoor and sheltered applications. Always confirm suitability for your specific application.

Is EPDM foam tape waterproof?

Closed-cell EPDM helps resist water ingress, but the finished seal depends on compression, surface contact and installation. It should not be used as a roofing seam, flashing tape, waterproof membrane joint, or in submerged conditions.

Is EPDM the same as neoprene?

No. Both are synthetic rubbers used for sponge sealing tapes, but they suit different conditions. EPDM is generally the better choice for outdoor and weather-exposed sealing, while neoprene is often preferred where oils or fuels are present. Can EPDM foam tape be cut to size?

Yes. It cuts easily to length with scissors or a sharp knife.
