Product Description

Flashback® Blue Prismatic Reflective Tape is a high-quality self-adhesive acrylic prismatic reflective tape designed to mark and identify fixed objects and surfaces under headlights, torches and other directed light.

Its deep blue prismatic surface combines a clear, distinct daytime colour with reflected visibility in darker conditions, making it suitable for a wide range of indoor and outdoor colour coding and identification applications.

Why Acrylic Prismatic?

Prismatic reflective tapes are made with different face films, most commonly acrylic, PVC or PET. Ours uses acrylic. Acrylic is the type of film generally chosen for long-term outdoor use, because it resists UV and weathering well and holds its colour and clarity over time. PVC and PET prismatic films are often cheaper, and PVC is more flexible, but they are generally less resistant to prolonged sun exposure.

The trade-off is that acrylic is stiffer, so it performs best on flat, rigid surfaces. For curves, corners and edges, a more flexible glass bead reflective tape is the better choice.

Key Features

  • Acrylic prismatic construction, chosen for UV and weather resistance outdoors
  • Prismatic reflective surface designed to return incident light towards its source
  • Deep blue colour for clear identification and colour coding
  • Self-adhesive backing for suitable smooth, rigid surfaces
  • Indoor and outdoor use for general marking and identification applications
  • Clean, professional finish for equipment, machinery, posts, barriers and fixed objects
  • Widths from 25mm to 300mm and lengths from 1 to 45 metres
Uses & suitable surfaces

Suitable for general marking and identification applications, including but not limited to:

  • Colour coding equipment, zones, routes and storage areas
  • Private driveways and entrances
  • Gates, posts, bollards, barriers, letterboxes and bins
  • Fixed objects and equipment
  • Warehouse and workshop identification
  • Plant, machinery and site equipment
  • Indoor and outdoor identification marking

Suitable surfaces may include clean, dry and smooth metal, painted metal, rigid plastic, glass, sealed wood and other stable, non-porous surfaces.

Not suitable for: curved or flexible surfaces (use glass bead reflective tape), clothing or fabric, or vehicle conspicuity marking (use ECE104 reflective tape).

Important: Where a legal standard, prescribed specification or certification applies to the intended application, an approved reflective material may be required. Do not use this product in place of required reflectors, conspicuity markings or other mandated safety components.

How to apply
  1. Check the surface is suitable and test a small area.
  2. Clean off dust, dirt, oil, wax and loose material.
  3. Dry the surface completely.
  4. Measure and cut the required amount of tape using sharp scissors or a suitable knife.
  5. Peel back a small section of the release liner.
  6. Apply the tape gradually using firm, even pressure.
  7. Check the edges are firmly attached before exposing the tape to handling or outdoor conditions.

Adhesion depends on the surface, preparation, texture and application conditions. Do not apply over rust, loose paint, oil, moisture or heavily textured surfaces.

Certification & product guidance

This product is intended for marking and identification where no specific approval or certification is required.

It is not supplied as ECE104/R104-approved vehicle conspicuity material, certified traffic-sign sheeting or reflective PPE.

For regulated HGV and trailer conspicuity marking, view our ECE104-compliant vehicle tape.

Public-highway, roadworks, traffic-management and prescribed sign applications may require particular materials, colours, layouts or approvals. Check the applicable requirements before ordering for a regulated application.

Frequently asked questions

Is blue as reflective as yellow?

No. Blue is one of the darker reflective colours, so it returns noticeably less light than white or yellow. Choose blue when you need a distinct colour for coding or identification. If maximum visibility is the priority, our Hi-Vis Yellow Prismatic Reflective Tape is the better option.

Can I use it on vehicles?

We don't recommend it. Reflective markings on road vehicles are regulated, including which colours can be used. For HGV and trailer conspicuity marking, use approved ECE104 reflective tape.

Is this reflective tape suitable for outdoor use?

Yes. It is intended for indoor and outdoor marking. Performance and service life vary according to the surface, preparation, installation, handling and exposure conditions.

What is the difference between acrylic and PVC prismatic reflective tape?

Acrylic prismatic film is generally chosen for long-term outdoor use because it resists UV, weathering and yellowing well, but it is stiffer and best suited to flat, rigid surfaces. PVC prismatic film is more flexible and conforms to curves more easily, but generally ages faster in prolonged sunlight. This tape uses acrylic. For curved surfaces, consider our more flexible glass bead reflective tape.

Can I use it on bollards or barriers?

It may be suitable for marking clean, smooth, privately owned bollards or barriers where no formal standard applies. Do not assume it meets requirements for public-highway, roadworks, traffic-management or safety-critical equipment.

Can it be used on clothing or fabric?

No. This self-adhesive tape is intended for suitable rigid surfaces and is not reflective PPE material.

Can the tape be cut to size?

Yes. We cut to length from 1 metre, and you can trim it further using sharp scissors or a suitable knife.

Can the tape be removed?

Yes, although adhesive residue may remain and some surfaces or coatings could be affected. Gentle heat may help soften the adhesive, but always test first.
