Uses & suitable surfaces

Typical Uses: Door and window sealing, weatherstripping, gasketing, gap filling, access panels, enclosures, machinery cushioning, anti-rattle protection, sound dampening and vibration reduction.

Suitable Surfaces: Metal, painted metal, plastic, UPVC, glass, wood, painted surfaces, panels and frames. For best adhesion, surfaces should be clean, dry and smooth. Always test first where suitability is uncertain.

How to apply

Ensure the surface is clean, dry and free from dust, grease and loose material. Measure and cut the tape to the required length. Remove the release liner and carefully position the tape. Apply firm, even pressure along the full length. Allow the adhesive time to bond before placing the tape under compression or stress. Test first to confirm suitability for the surface and application.

What is EPDM sponge tape used for?

EPDM sponge tape is used for sealing, gasketing, cushioning, weatherstripping, gap filling, anti-rattle protection and vibration dampening.


Is EPDM sponge tape suitable for outdoor use?

EPDM offers excellent resistance to ozone, UV and general weathering, making it suitable for many outdoor and semi-outdoor applications. Always confirm suitability for the specific application.


Is EPDM sponge tape waterproof?

Closed-cell EPDM helps resist water ingress, but the finished seal depends on compression, surface contact and installation. It should not be used as a roofing seam, flashing tape or waterproof membrane joint.

What is the difference between EPDM and neoprene sponge tape?

EPDM is generally better suited to UV, ozone and weather exposure. Neoprene is often preferred where resistance to oils and fuels is required.

Can EPDM sponge tape be cut to size?

Yes. It can easily be cut to the required length using scissors or a sharp knife.

Product Description

Flashback® EPDM Sponge Rubber Tape is a high-density, self-adhesive closed-cell foam strip for sealing, gasketing, cushioning, gap filling, weatherstripping and vibration dampening.

Manufactured from closed-cell EPDM sponge rubber with an approximate density of 120kg/m³, it provides a flexible, compressible seal that helps reduce the ingress of air, dust and moisture. EPDM offers excellent resistance to ozone, UV and general weathering, making it particularly suitable for doors, windows, panels, enclosures and general trade or industrial sealing applications.

The single-sided pressure-sensitive adhesive backing allows quick application to suitable surfaces, while widths from 10mm to 930mm provide options for both narrow sealing and wide-format gasketing or cushioning.

EPDM for Sealing & Gasketing

EPDM is particularly well suited to applications where resistance to sunlight, ozone and weathering is important. Typical uses include door and window seals, weatherstripping, access panels, enclosures, machinery cushioning, anti-rattle protection and general gasketing.

Compared with neoprene, EPDM is generally better suited to weather-exposed applications, while neoprene may be preferable where regular contact with oils or fuels is expected.

Important: This is an EPDM sponge sealing and cushioning tape. It is not a roofing seam tape, flashing tape or waterproof membrane tape.
