Product Description

Flashback® Silver Reflective Tape is a self-adhesive glass bead reflective tape for general visibility and safety marking on posts, gates, driveways, signs, equipment, barriers and other fixed objects.

Glass bead reflective tape uses millions of tiny glass beads embedded in the tape's surface to reflect light back towards its source, giving a bright silver finish when caught by headlights, torchlight or any other direct light source at night.

This tape is for general, unregulated visibility marking. It is not ECE104 compliant and not Chapter 8 compliant. If you need certified conspicuity marking for HGVs over 7.5 tonnes or trailers over 3.5 tonnes, use our ECE104 Reflective Tape instead.

Supplied in 25mm, 50mm, 100mm, 150mm, 200mm and 300mm widths, cut to length from 1 to 45 metres.

Why Glass Bead?

Glass bead reflective tape is naturally more flexible than prismatic acrylic tape, so it conforms well to curves, corners, poles, pipes and rounded edges where a stiffer prismatic tape would lift or crack. If you're marking a flat, rigid surface instead, our White Reflective Tape uses prismatic acrylic construction and gives a brighter reflection on that kind of surface.

Key Features

  • Glass bead reflective construction, flexible for curves and rounded surfaces
  • Bright silver finish, reflects light back towards its source
  • Self adhesive backing for quick peel and stick application
  • Widths from 25mm to 300mm, lengths from 1 to 45 metres
  • For general visibility marking where certified material is not required
Uses & suitable surfaces

Suitable for general visibility and safety marking where certified material is not required, including:

- Posts and bollards
- Gates and fences
- Driveways and entrances
- Mailboxes and signs
- Barriers and fixed equipment
- Warehouse and workshop marking
- Yard and site visibility marking
- Low-hanging objects and hazards
- Bikes and bicycles, subject to testing
- Cars, vans and trailers where regulated tape is not required

Suitable surfaces: Clean, dry, smooth and rigid surfaces including metal, painted metal, plastic, glass, UPVC, sign boards, gates and posts. Being flexible, it's also a practical choice for curved poles, pipes and rounded edges. Adhesion varies with surface condition, texture, temperature, exposure and application pressure. Test first on painted, coated, delicate, textured or high value surfaces.

For bollards and barriers, use only as supplementary visibility marking on privately owned items where no formal specification applies.

Not suitable for: Clothing, flexible fabrics or washable garments. Not suitable for Chapter 8 or ECE104 regulated use.

2. Cut the tape to the required length or shape.
3. Peel away the backing liner.
4. Position carefully before pressing down.
5. Apply firm, even pressure across the full length, working from one end to help avoid trapped air on curved surfaces.
6. Pay particular attention to edges and corners.
7. Allow the adhesive to bond before heavy exposure, washing or cleaning.

Always test first, especially on painted, coated or high value surfaces.

Certification & product guidance

This is a general purpose glass bead reflective tape for unregulated visibility and safety marking. It is not Chapter 8 compliant and not ECE104 compliant.

If you need certified conspicuity marking, for example for HGVs over 7.5 tonnes or trailers over 3.5 tonnes, use approved ECE104 reflective tape instead. If you need markings for highways, roadworks, traffic management or another regulated application, check the relevant legal and project requirements before ordering.

Durability and adhesion depend on correct installation, surface preparation, surface condition, weather exposure and cleaning method.

Flashback Tape accepts no liability for incorrect fitting, misuse, surface damage, removal damage, regulatory non-compliance or use outside the intended application.

Frequently asked questions

What is silver reflective tape used for?
It is used for general visibility marking on posts, gates, signs, driveways, equipment, barriers and other hard surfaces where improved low-light visibility is useful.

Is this tape ECE104 compliant?
No. For HGVs over 7.5 tonnes and trailers over 3.5 tonnes where regulated conspicuity marking is required, use approved ECE104 reflective tape instead.

Is this tape Chapter 8 compliant?
No. This product is not Chapter 8 compliant and should not be used where a certified highway or traffic-management reflective material is required.

What's the difference between glass bead and prismatic reflective tape?
Glass bead tape uses tiny embedded glass beads and is naturally flexible, so it's a good choice for curves, poles and rounded surfaces. Prismatic tape uses a moulded acrylic surface, reflects more brightly, but is stiffer and best suited to flat, rigid surfaces.

Can I use it on cars or vans?
It can be used for general non-regulated visibility marking on suitable hard vehicle surfaces, but not where Chapter 8, ECE104 or any other certified tape is required. Always test first, especially on paintwork.

Can the tape be cut to size?
Yes, with scissors or a sharp knife. We also cut to your chosen length before dispatch.

Is it suitable for clothing?
No. For garments or fabric projects, use a sew-on or fabric-specific reflective product.
