Product Description

Flashback® Red & White Chevron Reflective Tape is a general purpose self-adhesive tape with a bold chevron pattern and a bright prismatic acrylic reflective surface, for safety marking and general visibility on gates, posts, barriers, signs and fixed objects.

This is genuine prismatic acrylic reflective material, more durable than many basic PVC or PET reflective tapes sold online, and it reflects strongly and consistently when caught by headlights, torchlight or any other direct light source at night.

This tape is for general, unregulated visibility marking. It is not Chapter 8 compliant and not ECE104 compliant. If you need certified conspicuity marking for HGVs over 7.5 tonnes or trailers over 3.5 tonnes, use our ECE104 Reflective Tape instead.

Supplied in 50mm, 75mm, 100mm and 150mm widths, cut to length from 1 to 45 metres, in left hand or right hand chevron direction.

Why Acrylic Prismatic?

Prismatic reflective tapes are made with different face films, most commonly acrylic, PVC or PET. Ours uses acrylic. Acrylic is the type of film generally chosen for long-term outdoor use, because it resists UV and weathering well and holds its colour and clarity over time. PVC and PET prismatic films are often cheaper, and PVC is more flexible, but they are generally less resistant to prolonged sun exposure.

The trade-off is that acrylic is stiffer, so it performs best on flat, rigid surfaces. For curves, corners and edges, a more flexible glass bead reflective tape is the better choice.

Key Features

  • Acrylic prismatic construction, chosen for UV and weather resistance outdoors
  • Bold red and white chevron pattern for a clear safety-marking appearance
  • Available in left hand and right hand chevron directions
  • Widths of 50mm, 75mm, 100mm and 150mm, lengths from 1 to 45 metres
  • Self adhesive backing for suitable flat, rigid surfaces
  • For general visibility marking where certified material is not required

Left-Hand or Right-Hand?

Choose either left-hand or right-hand chevrons. The material is identical, only the angle of the chevrons is reversed. Using both directions together, for example on either side of a gate or vehicle, creates a balanced, professional chevron appearance.

Uses & suitable surfaces

Suitable for general visibility and safety marking where a bright chevron pattern is useful and certified material is not required, including:

- Gates, fences and driveways
- Posts, poles and bollards
- Barriers and fixed equipment
- Mailboxes and signs
- Bikes and bicycles, subject to testing
- Warehouse and workshop marking
- Yard and site visibility marking
- Low-hanging objects and other hazards
- Cars, vans and trailers where regulated tape is not required

Suitable surfaces: Clean, dry, smooth and rigid surfaces including metal, painted metal, plastic, glass, UPVC, sign boards, gates and posts. Adhesion varies with surface condition, texture, temperature, exposure and application pressure. Test first on painted, coated, delicate, textured or high value surfaces.

For bollards and barriers, use only as supplementary visibility marking on privately owned items where no formal specification applies.

Not suitable for: Clothing, flexible fabrics or washable garments. Not suitable for Chapter 8 or ECE104 regulated use.

Certification & product guidance

This is a general purpose prismatic reflective tape for unregulated visibility and safety marking. It is not Chapter 8 compliant and not ECE104 compliant.

If you need certified conspicuity marking, for example for HGVs over 7.5 tonnes or trailers over 3.5 tonnes, use approved ECE104 reflective tape instead. If you need reflective markings for highways, roadworks, traffic management or regulated vehicle use, check the relevant legal and project requirements before ordering.

Durability and adhesion depend on correct installation, surface preparation, surface condition, weather exposure and cleaning method.

Flashback Tape accepts no liability for incorrect fitting, misuse, surface damage, removal damage, regulatory non-compliance or use outside the intended application.

Frequently asked questions

Is this tape Chapter 8 compliant?
No. This is a general purpose red and white chevron reflective tape and is not certified for Chapter 8 regulated use.

Is this tape ECE104 compliant?
No. For HGVs over 7.5 tonnes and trailers over 3.5 tonnes where regulated conspicuity marking is required, use approved ECE104 reflective tape instead.

What's the difference between left hand and right hand chevron?
The material is identical — only the angle of the chevron pattern differs. Using both directions together gives a balanced, symmetrical look, for example either side of a gate.

What is the difference between acrylic and PVC prismatic reflective tape?
Acrylic prismatic film is generally chosen for long term outdoor use because it resists UV, weathering and yellowing well, but it is stiffer and best suited to flat, rigid surfaces. PVC prismatic film is more flexible and conforms to curves more easily, but generally ages faster in prolonged sunlight. This tape uses acrylic.

Can I use it on cars or vans?
It can be used for general non-regulated visibility marking on suitable hard vehicle surfaces, but not where Chapter 8, ECE104 or any other certified tape is required. Always test first, especially on paintwork.

Can the tape be cut to size?
Yes, with scissors or a sharp knife. We also cut to your chosen length before dispatch.

Can the tape be removed?
Yes, although adhesive residue may remain and some surfaces or coatings could be affected. Gentle heat may help soften the adhesive, but always test first.
