Product Description
Flashback® EPDM Sponge Rubber Tape is a high-density self-adhesive foam strip designed for sealing, cushioning, gap filling, weatherstripping and vibration dampening. Made from closed-cell EPDM sponge rubber, this tape helps reduce air, dust and light moisture ingress while providing a flexible protective layer between surfaces.
With an approximate density of 120kg/m³, this EPDM sponge tape is suitable for a wide range of home, trade, workshop and industrial applications, including door seals, window frame sealing, access panels, machinery cushioning, anti-rattle padding, sound dampening and general gasketing. The single-sided pressure-sensitive adhesive backing makes it quick to apply to suitable clean, dry and smooth surfaces.
Important: This is a specialist EPDM sponge sealing tape designed for general sealing, cushioning and protection. It is not a roofing seam tape, flashing tape or waterproof membrane tape and should not be used as a structural or waterproof joint in roofing applications.
Available widths: 10mm to 930mm

Why Choose Flashback® EPDM Sponge Tape?
Flashback® EPDM Sponge Tape is a practical choice when you need a flexible sealing strip that can cushion, protect and help reduce gaps between surfaces. EPDM is widely used because it performs well against ozone, UV and general weathering compared with many general-purpose rubber materials.
Closed-Cell EPDM Structure
The closed-cell sponge rubber helps reduce air, dust and light moisture ingress, making it useful for sealing gaps, panels, doors, windows, access covers and general hard surfaces.
Flexible Sealing & Cushioning
This tape can help soften contact between surfaces, reduce minor vibration, protect against rattling and provide a compressible sealing layer in suitable applications.
Easy Self-Adhesive Application
The pressure-sensitive adhesive backing allows quick peel-and-stick application to clean, dry and smooth surfaces without separate glue or fixings.
Better Weathering Than Neoprene in Many Uses
EPDM is generally preferred for applications exposed to UV, ozone and general weathering. Neoprene may be more suitable where oils, fuels or petroleum-based substances are present.
Common Uses
Flashback® EPDM Sponge Rubber Tape is suitable for general sealing, cushioning and protection tasks where a compressible foam strip is required. It is commonly used to help seal gaps, reduce vibration, soften contact between surfaces and protect against air, dust and light moisture.
- Door and window sealing
- Weatherstripping and draught reduction
- Gap filling and compression sealing
- Access panel and hatch seals
- Cabinet and enclosure seals
- Machinery cushioning and protection
- Panel cushioning and anti-rattle applications
- Sound dampening and vibration reduction
- General gasketing applications
- Workshop, shed and garage sealing
- General trade and industrial use
- Sheltered or protected outdoor applications
Suitable Surfaces
This EPDM sponge tape can be applied to many clean, dry and smooth surfaces, including metal, painted metal, plastic, UPVC, glass, wood, painted surfaces, panels, frames and general hard surfaces. Adhesion can vary depending on the surface condition, texture, temperature, pressure and environment. Always test first, especially on dusty, damp, rough, porous, delicate, freshly painted, coated or high-value surfaces.

EPDM vs Neoprene
EPDM is generally a better choice for applications exposed to sunlight, ozone and general weathering. Neoprene is often preferred where oils, fuels, grease or certain chemicals may be present. For door seals, window seals, panels, frames, weatherstripping and general outdoor or semi-outdoor sealing, EPDM is usually the more suitable option. For oily or chemical-heavy environments, a different material may be required.
Application Guide
- Make sure the surface is clean, dry and free from dust, grease, oil, wax or loose material.
- Measure and cut the EPDM tape to the required length.
- Peel away the backing liner from the adhesive side.
- Position carefully before pressing down.
- Apply firm pressure along the full length of the tape.
- Allow time for the adhesive to bond before putting the tape under compression or stress.
- Test first to confirm suitability for your specific application.
FAQ
What is EPDM sponge tape used for?
EPDM sponge tape is used for sealing, cushioning, weatherstripping, gasketing, anti-rattle protection, vibration dampening and general gap filling on suitable surfaces.
Is this tape suitable for outdoor use?
EPDM offers excellent resistance to ozone and general weathering, making it suitable for many sheltered or protected outdoor applications. Always test first for your specific surface and environment.
Is this tape waterproof?
The closed-cell EPDM sponge rubber helps resist water, air and dust, but suitability depends on compression, surface contact and installation. It should not be used for submerged applications or as a waterproof roofing joint.
Can this be used as roofing tape?
No. This is an EPDM sponge sealing and cushioning tape. It is not a roofing seam tape, flashing tape or membrane tape.
Can it be used for electrical insulation?
No. This tape is not rated for electrical insulation, conductive use, high-voltage systems or live circuits.
Can I cut it to size?
Yes, the tape can be cut to length with scissors or a sharp knife.
Will it stick to rough surfaces?
It works best on clean, dry and smooth surfaces. Rough, dusty, damp or porous surfaces may reduce adhesion.
Important Notes
This product is intended for general-purpose sealing, cushioning, gap filling, weatherstripping, gasketing and vibration dampening applications. It is not suitable for use with oils, petrol, brake fluids, solvents, aggressive chemicals, electrical insulation, conductive applications, live circuits, submerged conditions, structural fixing, roofing seams, flashing, waterproof membrane joints or safety-critical applications.
Suitability depends on the surface, compression, temperature, environment and application conditions. Avoid continuous exposure to unsuitable chemicals, oils, fuels, extreme heat or conditions outside the material’s limits. Always test before full use.
