Product Description
Flashback® 1.5mm EPDM Sponge Rubber Tape is a high-density self-adhesive foam strip designed for thin sealing, light cushioning, precision gasketing, gap filling and anti-rattle applications where a low-profile rubber foam strip is required. Made from closed-cell EPDM sponge rubber, this tape is suitable for home, trade, workshop and industrial applications where 1mm tape may be too thin but thicker foam tape would add too much bulk.
At 1.5mm thick, this EPDM tape offers more compression than 1mm tape while still fitting into narrow gaps and tight spaces. It is useful for slim gasketing, cabinet seals, enclosure seals, display panels, trim sealing, cable protection, light vibration reduction and subtle cushioning between close-fitting parts. The single-sided pressure-sensitive adhesive backing makes it quick to apply to clean, dry and smooth surfaces.
Available widths: 10mm to 930mm

Common Uses
Flashback® 1.5mm EPDM Sponge Rubber Tape is suitable for light-duty sealing, cushioning and protection tasks where a thin but slightly compressible foam strip is required. It is commonly used to help seal narrow gaps, reduce minor vibration, soften light contact between surfaces and provide a slim protective layer without adding much thickness.
- Thin gap sealing
- Slim gasketing
- Cabinet, enclosure and access panel seals
- Display panel and trim sealing
- Light cushioning between close-fitting parts
- Anti-rattle protection
- Cable protection and light padding
- Small craft, workshop and DIY projects
- General trade and industrial use
- Sheltered or protected external applications
Suitable Surfaces
This EPDM sponge tape can be applied to many clean, dry and smooth surfaces, including metal, painted metal, plastic, UPVC, glass, wood, painted surfaces, panels, frames and general hard surfaces. Adhesion can vary depending on the surface condition, temperature, pressure and environment. Always test first, especially on dusty, damp, rough, porous, delicate, freshly painted, coated or high-value surfaces.

Why Use 1.5mm EPDM Sponge Tape?
1.5mm EPDM sponge tape is useful when you need a thin sealing or cushioning strip but want slightly more compression than 1mm tape. It is a good option for narrow gaps, fine gasketing, light contact protection and applications where thicker foam would be too bulky. EPDM is widely used because it offers excellent resistance to ozone and weathering, making it a practical choice for many indoor and sheltered outdoor sealing jobs.
EPDM vs Neoprene
EPDM is generally a better choice for applications exposed to sunlight, ozone and weathering. Neoprene is often preferred where oils, fuels or certain chemicals may be present. For sealing doors, windows, panels, frames and general weather-exposed areas, EPDM is usually the more suitable option. For oily or chemical-heavy environments, a different material may be required.
Application Guide
- Make sure the surface is clean, dry and free from dust, grease or loose material.
- Measure and cut the EPDM tape to the required length.
- Peel away the backing liner from the adhesive side.
- Position carefully before pressing down.
- Apply firm pressure along the full length of the tape.
- Allow time for the adhesive to bond before putting the tape under compression or stress.
- Test first to confirm suitability for your specific application.
FAQ
What is 1.5mm EPDM sponge tape best suited for?
1.5mm EPDM tape is best suited to narrow gaps, slim gasketing, light cushioning and anti-rattle applications where 1mm tape may be too thin but thicker foam tape would add too much bulk.
Is this tape suitable for outdoor use?
Yes, EPDM offers excellent weathering and ozone resistance, making it suitable for many sheltered or protected outdoor sealing applications. Always test first for your specific surface and environment.
Can this EPDM tape be used as a draught excluder?
It can be used for very small gaps, but 1.5mm tape has limited compression compared with thicker foam tapes. For larger draught gaps around doors, windows, sheds or garages, a thicker EPDM tape may be more suitable.
Is this tape waterproof?
The closed-cell EPDM sponge rubber offers excellent water, air and dust sealing performance, but suitability depends on compression, surface contact and installation. It should not be used for submerged applications.
Can I cut it to size?
Yes, the tape can be cut to length with scissors or a sharp knife.
Will it stick to rough surfaces?
It works best on clean, dry and smooth surfaces. Rough, dusty, damp or porous surfaces may reduce adhesion.
Important Notes
This product is intended for general-purpose thin sealing, light cushioning, slim gasketing, gap filling and anti-rattle applications. It is not suitable for use with oils, fuels, solvents, aggressive chemicals, electrical insulation, conductive applications, live circuits, submerged conditions, structural fixing or safety-critical applications. Suitability depends on the surface, compression, temperature, environment and application conditions. Always test before full use.
This EPDM sponge rubber has a stated temperature range of -10°C to +94°C. Avoid use outside this range or in applications where heat, chemicals, load, movement or compression exceed the material’s limits.
