Product Description
Our EPDM sponge tape is meticulously engineered with a density of approximately 120 kg/m³, offering a substantial, resilient feel that significantly outperforms typical low-cost alternatives with densities between 80-90 kg/m³. This higher density ensures enhanced longevity, exceptional sealing capability, and superior resistance to harsh environmental factors such as ozone, UV rays and weathering.
While cheap, diluted options—often mixed with PE foam—may appeal to DIY enthusiasts for minor projects, they fall short in professional applications where reliability and durability are paramount. Our high-density EPDM Sponge tape is the ideal solution for industrial, automative, and construction uses where weatherproofing, water resistance, and durability are critical.
Key Features:
- Neoprene Alternative: Outperforms neoprene in UV resistance and long-term durability.
- Water-resistant and Weatherproof: Offers excellent protection against environmental wear.
- High resistance to aging and cracking: Ensures long-lasting performance in demanding conditions.
- Easy to cut and apply: Customizable for a variety of applications.
- Made in the UK from EPDM: High-quality, reliable performance for industrial, automotive, and construction use.
Please note that 15mm thickness will be sent as 2x 5m rolls rather than a 10m roll.
Not to be used in immersion with oils, aggressive chemicals or oil rich environments.
Uses:
- Weather sealing / Cold door & window seals
- Dust-proofing
- Cushioning / shock absorption
- Vibration dampening
- Soundproofing and isolation
- Automotive water seals
- Thermal insulation
- Speaker cone surround
- General gasketing applications
Key Properties:
Made from high-density EPDM rubber, this tape features a closed-cell structure that releases low VOCs and demonstrates excellent resistance to ozone, diluted acids, and alkalis. It maintains good temperature resistance up to 80°C and adapts well to uneven surfaces, offering exceptional aging properties without becoming hard or brittle over time.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How does your EPDM tape compare to neoprene tape?
A: EPDM tape and neoprene tape are both popular for sealing and insulation, but they have some key differences. EPDM tape offers superior resistance to aging, UV rays, ozone, and weathering, making it an excellent choice for outdoor and long-term applications. Neoprene, while also durable, is generally less resistant to these factors, especially UV rays, which can cause it to crack over time. EPDM also has a broader range of temperature resistance and is less likely to degrade when exposed to harsh environmental conditions. For applications where durability, weatherproofing, and longevity are crucial, EPDM is often the better choice.
Neoprene tape can be a better choice in certain situations, particularly where resistance to oils, greases, and certain chemicals is required. Neoprene has excellent resistance to petroleum-based products, making it ideal for use in automotive, marine, and industrial environments where exposure to oils or fuels is common. While EPDM excels in outdoor, weather-resistant applications, neoprene is often preferred in environments with frequent exposure to oils, solvents, and chemicals.
In summary, while both materials have their strengths, for most outdoor and weather-resistant applications, our EPDM tape provides superior performance and longevity.
